CNET has posted a review of HP's 42-inch plasma (model PL4200N) and they seem to be pleasantly surprised by the results, particularly black-level performance.

These HP plasmas are actually a rebadged 8th gen Panasonic TH-42PX500U and TH-50PX500U. I think the HP version looks better than the Panasonic and will probably pick them up. The 500U models are getting rave reviews.
It's interesting that in this Cnet review they compare the Hp against the Panasonic and say it is lacking in some areas, when in reality it is the same TV!
