There are a total of 65 NFL preseason games so I'd say that 42 of 'em in HD is pretty good by any standard, considering they're all exhibition games that don't count for anything.

NFL Network to Show 42 Preseason Games in HD
If you're ready for some football, the NFL Network is where you'll want to tune in for preseason games that kick off next month. The league-owned channel will show more preseason games than ever -- 54 -- with 42 of those being shown in high-def. Of those 42 HD games, 8 will be live while the rest will be on tape delay.
