It's a slow news day but I did pick up an interesting tidbit from DisplaySearch by way of the Consumer Electronics Association:
"Plasma TVs are expected to grow 83% to 16.9 million units in 2009, while LCD TV sales are expected to nearly triple to 112 million in that year."
That's a pretty interesting statistic when you think about it. Most industries would be pretty happy with an 83% growth rate over the next couple of years, but when your primary competitor is tripling its own growth rate in the same period of time -- and outselling you by nearly 100 million units -- it's enough to cause a plasma company executive many a sleepless night.
