Flat-Panel Supply Chain Highlights Global Economy

USA Today has an interesting piece detailing how the construction of a flat-panel TV at what have become cut-rate costs requires an increasingly global supply chain. Most of you reading this blog realize that the vast majority of HDTVs are produced at least partially in Asia, but often the assembly is done somewhere else, like Mexico, before the TVs arrive in the U.S. for sale.

This story also features a brief history of flat-panel displays, including why there are very few American companies doing much of anything in this fast-growing space.
